Terms of Use

What the app is, what you're responsible for, and what you own. Your workout data is yours; Shojin is a training tracker, not a medical device.

Effective 26 July 2026

Acceptance

By creating an account or using Shojin, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

The service

Shojin is a personal fitness tracking tool. It lets you log workouts, sets, templates, bodyweight, and readiness, and see your progress over time. It's available as a web app and as iOS and Android apps. Shojin is currently free, with no in-app purchases and no ads.

Your account

  • You sign in with an email and password.
  • You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account.
  • Let us know at support@shojin.fit if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.

Acceptable use

Please use Shojin for its intended purpose — tracking your own training. Don't use it to break the law, infringe others' rights, or attempt to disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' data.

Training Circles: content and conduct

Training Circles let a small group of friends see each other's display name, profile photo, and weekly training-day counts. If you use this feature, you're responsible for the display name, circle name, and photo you choose, and you agree to a simple rule: no objectionable content and no abusive behaviour toward other members — nothing hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. We have zero tolerance for this.

We screen names for objectionable words when you set them, but the main safeguard is people looking out for each other. You can report a member from inside the app (open the Training Circle and tap the flag next to their name) or email support@shojin.fit. We review reports and may remove content, or restrict or remove accounts, that breach these Terms. You can also leave any circle at any time (Training Circle → Leave circle).

Your content

Your workout data is yours. You own everything you enter — your workouts, sets, notes, bodyweight, templates, and the rest.

You grant us only the limited permission we need to operate the service: to store your data, sync it across your devices, and display it back to you. We don't claim ownership of your content and we don't use it for anything beyond running the app for you.

If you choose to share a workout template, the person who redeems your share code receives their own copy of that template's structure — its name, its exercise names, and its set, rep, and rest targets, with your target weights removed — which they then own and control. Only share templates you're happy for someone else to keep.

Not medical advice / not a medical device

Shojin is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. It's a tool for recording and reviewing your own training.

Exercise carries inherent risks. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any exercise program, especially if you have an existing health condition or any concerns. You are responsible for training safely and within your own limits, and you take part in physical activity at your own risk.

Nothing in Shojin should be treated as medical, health, or professional advice.

Availability and changes

We may change, add, remove, or discontinue features, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. We may also update these Terms; continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

You can export your data at any time from Profile (CSV and full JSON backup), so you always have your own copy.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shojin is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will never be lost — so keep your own backups using the export feature.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, Shojin.

Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be lawfully excluded. Where our liability for failing to meet a non-excludable guarantee can be limited, it is limited to the extent the law allows.

Termination

You can stop using Shojin and delete your account and data at any time from Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are seriously or repeatedly breached, or where we need to for legal or security reasons.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you agree to the jurisdiction of its courts.
